hey guys i finnally got past that misfire issue, well hopefully, everything is going well right now lol i figured id do one thing for the truck one thing for how it looks assuming things go well. i want to get a tint job. now from what ive read it depends more on the installer than the product. ive found a installer with 20 plus years experience etc near me. he uses a couple different brands and i get to have a choice it seems. He uses solargard and suntek. i told him the type of truck he said a certain type of suntek he'd reccomend. which version of suntek you guys think is the best so when i ask better questions i get better feedback

Never used Suntek myself. 3M and Llumar. Maybe someone else will chime in with another idea. Ceramic is probably top choice at the moment, unless someone else has a better product for heat reduction, etc...

% you choose is up to you. 5% and less is limo and super dark. 15% over OEM rears almost matches limo and on the fronts is dark. Throw in a windshield strip or entire window tint and you are talking very dark inside. Good for heat, your interior and privacy.

I think you're thinking too much about this... Stick with ceramic tint and a good installer. Both will have lifetime warranties.

Agree

Just tint the front windows 20 percent to match the rest of the Windows.

20 percent is what they come from the factory

My installers always use Llumar brand. I've always done 15% on front two windows since that matches up very close to factory rear tint. I've done 35% and 50% on the windshield and liked them both. Darker is better for me, but 50% will obviously not be as much of a cop magnet. I've only been pulled once in 5 years with windshield tint of 35% and never with 50%.

Edit to my above post.

My 06 has 5% over entire truck and top windshield strip. Very dark.

My 13 has 15% over entire truck and nothing on the windshield. It is the wife's DD (couldn't go 5% and she is adjusting to the rear dark windows) and likes the 15% on the fronts for privacy and sun off her skin. Might do windshield later, but noticed 2 small chips, so will get that replaced for free in Florida then consider the front tint.

I think the installer uses the suntek CXP, which i think is just carbon not ceramic. i did have another place i was refered to that uses 3M. i will call them and see which 3m they use. in NYS the front 2 windows have to be 70%. looks almost like nothing. gonna black out the rest with 5 percent. im the only one who drives the truck. i want it fro privacy, worried about someone breaking into the car for tools. may try and get away with 50% on the driver and passenger if i can. dont need it completely black just more privacy.

Didn't see it mentbut first step is what's legal in your state. Go with the darkest they allow unless you drive a lot at night. Both films mentioned have lifetime warranties when done by a pro. My preference is ceramic and I installed tint for several years. Get the warranty in writing. Most people only keep cars a few years so see if it's transferable might help with resale. Dealers will remove anything from driver forward.
