I'm in a quandary with an upcoming purchase (today). Which should I buy?

1). 2010 Tahoe ltz fully loaded (minus DVD) for $39,000. 25,500 miles on it. It's in great shape. Warranty is obviously limited if I go this route.

2). 2011 Tahoe ltz fully loaded for $47,000. Brand new and has everything, including DVD. I'd get the full warranty here..

Financing would be the same for both and both are willing to give me $7,000 for my trade-in. I just can't decide if buying the new one with the warranty and no miles is worth the additional $8,000.

I'll likely drive either car for many years until it starts breaking down due to age.

What would you do in my situation? Thanks in advance!!

Also, I don't put a lot of miles on cars. Most likely looking at less than 10,000 miles a year.

I personally would buy the 2010 and add an extended warranty to the mix. The cost of the extended warranty would be less than half the difference in the cost of the two. That way you get the best of both worlds so to speak, IF you can live without the DVD that is...

If you put 10k miles on vehicles a year, I would definitely go with the used vehicle. It's just not worth buying a new car and driving that much money off the lot. The 2010 and 2011 Tahoe LTZ's are very similar. Now if it was an 08 or 09 it'd be a different story ;)

As the others have stated, get the 2010 and save yourself a little money. They are very comparable.

If the DVD is a concern for you I would suggest adding headrest DVD's. In my opinion, they are the all around better option anyways. There are plenty of choices, but GM makes their own that are pretty good. You could even use a little bit of that extra money you are saving, and apply it towards that. Just have the dealership put them on, if you are not comfortable doing it yourself.

Either way, good luck! Keep us updated on your new purchase :Handshake:

25xxx miles is a lot for a 2010, which is actually a good thing cause it usually means highway miles. I was in a similar situation as you ... I bough my 09 in 10 with 12xxx miles on it and saved myself over $10k by doing so and the truck was as good as new.

On the other hand, a brand new shiny truck is a brand new shiny truck. :)

I would recommend going with the used vehicle. Especially since you do not put many miles on your vehicle anyway. Like already stated you could always get headrest DVD players if they are a must for you.
