You must first obtain the entire engine harness system from front of engine to entire engine compartment to drive train tunnel. Every wire every sensor every power component. The donor vehicle drive type must match. If you do not have this you are going to run into serious complications that could kill your project. If you do have all that adoption should be easy with some minor revisions to allow for differences for a few things like a/c and instrumentation.

When you say "drive type" are you referring to 2wd/4wd, auto trans/manual trans or both. I'm thinking about doing the same swap on a 2 wheel drive 3/4 ton 95' GMC pickup with a 5 speed standard transmission but I haven't found a donor vehicle for the right price yet.

Same as in if 95 is 4wd auto then donor must be the same. There is one exception you can get an auto setup but put a manual tranny in its place and do some pcm programming. You just leave a few wire unused retire a few and add the clutch system. You can not however put a manual harness setup and use an auto tranny. You do not want to even go there.

Regardless there will be some retiring or minor splicing to do.

Thanks Sun,

That's what I was hoping for. Now my options are a little more open if I can use an auto trans donor. I have a local guy that can do tuning so it shouldn't be a problem.
