2004 Tahoe, 5.3. Need a new exhaust, cat back. I'd like to get a Corsa touring system for the performance gain and sound..SS construction is important. Problem, they don't make it. Kind of a major problem. They make the Sport model but I'm thinking that is going to be too loud for what I'm looking for.
So, what are my options? I know Magnaflow, Gibson and others make a system but I don't know those systems very well. Thanks for your thoughts..

I can`t speak about corsa or magnaflow catbacks but i had a flowmaster catback in regular steel and it rusted away in about 2-2-1/2 years and the fit wasn`t great. No matter what i did i could never get the tailpipes to line up evenly and the hangers and clamps in the kit were junk.

I decided to go to a custom exhaust shop in north jersey and had one made up for $800 in stainless. Now the tails are perfectly even, The whole system is welded so no worries about the clamps rusting out. I just wish i would have gone the custom route in the first place and saved $450 i wasted on the DIY kit.

Thanks Ted, you confirmed what I've heard about the Flowmasters and providing the kind of information I was looking for.
How did you decide on the system you had made, sound, performance gain, pipe size?
Thanks again,
Dave

I went with a dual side outlet setup. I have a 3 inch pipe from the cat to the muffler and 2-1/2 inch tails into 3-1/2 x 18 tips. I was looking for a flowmaster 50 series suv muffler like what came in their catback but couldn`t find one in stainless so i got one that was the same dimensions except it was a little thinner top to bottom. It`s also a 50. I have no drone at all unless i`m towing a heavy load up a hill and the engine is working hard and even then it`s not very annoying. Friends tell me that it`s loud, They can hear me coming down the road so that muffler may not be the one for you. Maybe a larger magnaflow would be good.

And some people say that adding a catback won`t really increase power at all but there is no doubt in my mind a picked up something in the mid to high rpm`s. Not a huge difference but noticeable.

I like the deep sound of magnaflow catback. I've heard that corsa won't produce any drone yet this exhaust is really loud.

I like my MBRP

Throaty and deep intake off(a little louder than I wanted at the beginning, but now I love it)

Not super loud, no drone(or not bad) I can hear my roof rack whistle a bit over the exhaust that the whistling is really tame, so just noticeable of highway that you have an exhaust(until you get on it)

I have had good luck with magnaflows in the past on previous cars. Im looking at picking one up for my Yukon XL here in the next week or two.

I've only had experience with magnaflow. Do you guys remember the old 3.1's in the berreta/corsica/sunbirds? Had whatever exhaust with two cherry bombs running on my beretta and got a ticket for no muffler. So I said FU and bought a magnaflow cat and 2 magnaflow duel output mufflers. Needless to say say my quad exhaust was pretty loud given that motor/setup. I was also working in downtown Toronto and the amount of car alarms I'd set off was hilarious.

Miss my beretta and all the ruckus :(
