Just configure your google map on your phone. You can down load your area map via google map so if you loose wireless connection on your phone the map will still be updating your location. So confgure your google map app on your phone prior to connecting it to android auto.

Android Auto. Your home screen should have a "projection" icon. Plug in your android phone and it should download or launch android auto.
If you do not have the "projection" then you need to call your local dealer and schedule a firmware update for Carplay and android auto.

I think you can use any. I use one located in the center console for reference.

You need to install Android Auto on the S7 before anything else. Mature sure the vehicle is in park and plug it in. The projection icon on the radio should change to android auto and the phone may require a one-time acknowledgement then will black out and say android auto.

All aside... assuming you have the software updated on the radio from the dealer.

I had to take my 2016 Yukon back to the dealer for an update in order to use Androids Auto...once the dealer updates your software you must also install it on your phone.

Search my posts on this for the details of my experience.
