Hey guys, I've lurked the forums for some time since my dad has a 2010 Tahoe but I am not new to GM trucks at all. Between me and my dad, we have had an 02 Avalanche, 04 Avalanche, 04 Silverado SS, 06 Trailblazer SS, 07 Trailblazer SS, 10 Tahoe and now my Avalanche.

Anyways I have been reading through the forums and have some questions that I hope to have answered.

My Avalanche which is due in next week is a LT with the all-star package, sunroof, the body colored EXT components, and rear view camera in the mirror. I'm planing on some mods but I need some help.

Headlights- Does anyone make an oem looking light with a clear or tinted side marker? Ive seen the ones on ebay with halos and LED's and they are just not my taste at all. My other option is to have my stock lights painted on the side to hide the amber side marker.

Tail lights - Which brand has the best LED tail light for the Avalanche? I have seen LED lights on some trucks locally and only one light works or half the LED lights work.. Id light to have a quality light. Also does anyone make a full LED third brake light to replace the EXT light?

Exhaust- Im looking at the Corsa sport. The only thing I am concerned about is the 4 cylinder mode. Does anyone who has it have any input?

Navigation- I have two routes to go with this.

The first one is to install the Pioneer X920BT I had in my 05 GTO. The only question I have with this is, which adapter should I use to keep the Onstar and door chimes. I forget what brand I had in my TBSS with my Avic-D3 but sometimes the door chimes wouldnt stop even after I took the key out.

My other option is to swap the factory Nav out of my dads 2010 tahoe. Hes trading it in in about 2 months. Does anyone know if a navi out of a 2010 tahoe would fit into my avalanche, and would the radio of my avalanche fit in his tahoe (plug wise)? I know I would have to have it programmed and add a VSS wire. Also would there be any way to make the camera display on the navigation screen instead of the rearview mirror?

Thanks guys!

Welcome to TYF. For the headlights you can get aftermarket replicas of the stock ones, bake the housing, and remove the orange side reflector. THEN you can retrofit a projector into it. That would probably look best. Another TYF member on here has tried to bake their stock headlight housing to no avail. I got my LED tails for my avalanche on eBay for a little less than 200. So far it's the best looking one's i've run across. I had an exhaust on my 08 Tahoe and did a resonator delete and I couldn't hear anything from the V8-to-V4 shift from the active fuel management-- you should be okay getting aftermarket exhaust.

For the nav-- on my tahoe I went aftermarket pioneer (avic-z110bt) and when I got my avalanche I added the factory nav. DO NOT get factory nav. I regret it and am actually thinking about going another route. I tried both routes and highly regret going factory. I went factory originally because I have always had aftermarket nav screens but wanted to retain a "factory look". Boy do I regret it. This nav unit for the GMT900 is WORTHLESS. It's slow and terrible and sucks at directions. I would go with the Kenwood DNX9980HD or the flagship pioneer that I had that's now updated to the AVIC-Z130BT. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Edit: BTW there is an avalanche section :)

Damn I didnt even see the Avalanche forum on here lol... However it looks dead compared to the Tahoe/Yukon/Escy section and besides the rear of the trucks, they are the same.

As for the aftermarket nav, which wiring harness should I get? I think I had the Metra GMOS-04 in my TBSS and it was nothing but a headache. They also dont seem to get the best reviews. It seems the GMOS Lan 02 which Crutchfield recommends for the NNBS also doesn't get great reviews.

Lol no I completely agree it is completely dead that's why I was telling you about it. But yea good point I guess a lot more people view this more. The wiring harness I'm not really sure which one I had a local audio shop do it. I got the PAC SWI-PS for steering wheel control adaptor and the PAC OS 4 for bose/onstar adaptor. Then you have to get a separate pioneer made iPhone 30 pin dock connector cable that doesn't come with the nav unit.

My opinion on the led tails, including the high mount brake light, would be IPCW (www.ipcw.com). You can't buy from them unless you're an approved dealer, but you can copy the part number from their site and paste in ebay or auto anything and come up with the same result.

Ill look into the PAC modules. As far as the iPhone dock, whats that for? I have a cable that plugs into the back of the unit that is made to plug into the iPhone if that is what you are talking about.

It looks like they only make the third brake light for the tahoes and avalanches without the EXT component package.
