Hey everyone, so i just went to the junk yard and bought a (not sure year but 00 to 06 probably) chevy avalanche gauge cluster for $42 since my 04 Yukon's speedo was freezing and it so happens that it came with a built in trans temp gauge!

So i hook it up today and everything works perfectly including the temp gauhe! I suppose somehow my truck was wired for it somehow...

So finally... My problem, my steering wheel buttons having to do with radio or onstar work but the trip button and the one for the gas range do nothing... And i know they work on the original cluster.

Wondering if i need to get the new cluster programed for these buttons to work?

You definitely need to get the mileage programmed in or you'll have to sign an odometer disclosure when you sell it. That might have to do with the trip meter not working but I'm not sure. And all of the 00-06 models have trans temp capabilities but it'***** or miss as far as needing to have the function programmed. You got lucky on that.
