So after getting accepted into a college-prep school, I changed high schools and am driving 35 miles one-way to school 5 days a week. Its getting a little pricey on gas for only having a part time job. I've been looking around at some late-90s lexus and beemers for some better gas mileage. Well...my grandparents decided to surprise me & got me a '96 mercury sable ls. I'm still going to keep the tahoe at least for a couple months, but as it is a gift, I feel obligated to drive the mercury, even though it wasn't on my list of preferred cars. So... what are some good mods? I don't even know where to look, as a mercury sable isn't a highly modded car. Trying to keep it un-ricey as possible, but it needs a few classy mods.

I honestly wouldn't go crazy with it. Simple things like - remove the pin stripe on it, tint, wheels, clear or tint the orange reflector, paint the chrome ring around the grill opening. I wouldn't do performance mods on it unless they up the gas mileage since that is really the point of the car in the first place. If you wanted to do more you could look into baking the headlights to paint the chrome black.

Yeah those are some goods ones. Tint windows, reflectors, and tails and it'd be pretty clean. Then it'd just be up to chrome or black wheels. Black too played out and import-looking? I know it is in Cali, but might be able to rock in MS

Ha well I feel obligated to drive it for at least the school year and if i sell the hoe, 17" wheels and tint are relatively cheap. There is some very practical advice in what you said, but once you mod one car a little, its hard not to do something to future cars

I agree with you completely. I can't seem to leave any of my cars alone. (obviously) Which is why I gave some cheap mod ideas for you. For a DD you don't want to break the bank modding it but I know how you feel when you want to do something to make it more unique and "yours".

Ha yeah I'm keeping it simple. So I took off the pin stripe and debadged it. The badges have brads so the car has 2 holes for each badge. I was thinking about painting badges black (currently silver) and putting them back on. Or I could fill them but I'm not sure how to, or how it would look. Input?

*Oh any negatives to doing swiss cheese mod on airbox? B/c I loved it on the hoe.

And if I tint tails, where can I get some super bright bulbs? The LED 3157s any good?
