Please allow me to introduce myself, I'm a man of wealth and taste...

err...sorry... I couldn't help myself, I like the stones...(If you don't get it, google it).....

I Just traded in my 06 Saab 9-5 for a 08 Yukon this past Friday. I'm no stranger to forums and always find that they are useful for those of us who like to DIY. So naturally, I have found myself here and its already proven useful.
I stumbled across a thread about heated washer fluid and found out that my Yukon came with it. After a quick look under the hood I was able to determine that the dealer was being lazy and only removed the fuse instead of removing the heating unit like the recall bulletin called for. :D

As for me, I just recently graduated from Western Kentucky University (Go Tops!) with a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. The degree proved to be useful (unlike many other degrees these days) as I graduated on a Saturday and went to work the following Monday. I am a design engineer for a company that makes retail fixtures (mainly checkout counters/conveyors). If you have ever bought anything at a Wal-mart, you have probably seen our work.

The job is of course the reason I can afford to be the proud owner of a 2008 Yukon. It has ~89k miles on it and is in overall great shape. It does have a couple issues that I'm hoping to fix with the aid of this forum. The first and most annoying is the door lock problems. The front passengers side door lock actuator doesn't work and the rear passengers side only works half the time. The dealer offered to fix them for $500 while negotiating but, the DIYer in me said hell no, I will fix them myself. A quick google search and a couple youtube videos later and I'm 100% confident I can fix it myself and I saved myself about $300. I am also getting a service 4wd message that conveniently didn't show up until after I got home and agreed to buy it "as is". Still trying to trouble shoot that one. Hoping it's an electrical issue and not a mechanical problem inside the transfer case.

Anyway....Thanks for reading about me and my ride...I hope to be able to learn from the forum and contribute when I can.

Oh and because I love pictures heres one of my Yukon...
