Hey everyone! I just picked up a 97 Hoe 4wd off my buddy, I love it!

But the tailgate is rusted out, so I'm looking for tips on how to get those pins out. Can I reuse the old ones or should I buy new ones?

Thanks a lot

Ha, I had one of my pins fall out. I couldn't figure out why the glass was rattling so bad back there, until one day I tried to open my tailgate, and it almost fell off!

The c-clips come off with a small flat screwdriver. Then the pins can slide out. Almost a two person job. One for the pins, another to hold the tailgate so it doesn't move and scratch things up.

Buy new pins, they are cheap, and most important, they come with new c-clips! Odds are the old ones will get buggerd up when being removed.

Not to hack the thread. But can the rear hinged glass be adjusted. Mine doesn't sit flush with the gate and lets water and dust in.

I don't know about adjusting the glass, maybe someone else will chime in.
But I had a similar problem with the top glass half not being latched in all the wayto the bottom tailgate, so it doesn't sit flush either. I ended up using a roll of 1/4"x1" weather stripping foam. The kind that has a peel and stick backing. One or two layers ran along the bottom of the glass should work for you. It does for me,

Or one day, I might bring it in and see why the latch doesn't close all the way. It seems that every three or four months, I have to replace that foam because it gets compressed.

Actualy this is a very good question. We should start a new thread though.. haha...

Exactly! There is enough people on the interwebs that "I figure that what ever problem you are having, your not the first, and odds are, that someone has already posted about it or will help."

So I did start a new thread here. And we already recieved an answer. I'm going to try it this afternoon!
