Hi there, I am looking at a 04 Yukon SLT for my wife. We are thinking about getting rid of our 03 Trailblazer LTZ for this. It has 123,000 on it and seems to run and drive pretty nice. My only concern is that it is the AWD version. Stabiltrac or something like that.

My concern is that I have never had an AWD vehicle alway 4wd. I don't quite know how this particular vehicle responds with the AWD. Does it work like the automatic 4wd does on a regular 4wd. To where the front axle kicks in when it scences slippage. How are these on mpg's versus a 4wd unit. I have read mpg's are between 18-20 on highway but it doesn't say if that is 4wd. awd, or both. Could someone fill me in a little more about how the AWD works and the pros-cons of it.

I don't want to buy it if I would be better off with the 4wd version. Thanks

Personally I would too. This is for my wife and she has only used the 4wd on the blazer a hand full of times. If this AWD does half way decent in the snow then I think she will be fine. I am just not sure how it works. You can lock it in 4LO if need be but how often does one need that versus 4HI.
