I recently purchased a 2007 Tahoe LTZ. After thinking that the front shocks were blown, I took it to the dealer who informed me that this truck is outfitted with an electronic shock which costs a fortune. That said, I see that many around here have lifts and aftermarket shocks on their trucks. I'd be perfectly happy going with an aftermarket shock but how does this work? Is there some sort of sensor that plugs into the factory shock that is no longer in use once aftermarket shocks are installed? I don't get it. Can someone please clear this up for me and possibly take a few minutes to explain some options? Thanks to everyone in advance.

You could do what Conor said, or just get the Bilstein HD struts (a popular/good shock many use on here).
Either way, the Bilstein HD shocks run about $200 but I may be able to get you a brand new set for cheaper than that.
Private message me if you are interested.
