Hi everyone. I just joined the forum a couple of weeks ago and this is my first post. A little background, I've been a bow tie SUV guy my whole life. My first vehicle was a 76 Blazer with a 12" superlift, 44" TSL Super Swampers and a 383 stroker. I run an auto repair shop and I just picked up a '97 Tahoe with a blown t-case and some rust for $250. It has the Vortec 5.7 with 275,000 miles and runs like a ***** ape. $100 for a used transfer case and I replaced all drivetrain fluids with Amsoil. Already put 1000 miles on it with no problems. It's going to be my hunting and fishing truck. As we all know you just can't leave well enough alone so now I'm performing some upgrades. I just turned up the torsion bars so I could fit 305/70R16 Open Country A/T's on Cepek Torque wheels. I had to cut about 1" off the bumper and off the fender under the body moulding. Since it's for hunting and it has maroon interior I just ordered red LED"s for the instrument cluster, interior lights and door switches. I'll be installing those this weekend. I installed a Pioneer radio that is set to red as well. I will be cutting the rust out early this summer. I will be posting pics after the lights get installed this weekend.

I can't wait to trade ideas with all of you.

Thanks,

Dan

Yes I did. That's one advantage to working in auto repair. The guy didn't want to fix it because it "wasn't worth the money". He was going to junk it so I gave him $50 more then the junk yard would. It's amazing how many people won't spend the money to fix a vehicle. They are all convinced that mechanics are just trying to screw them when a lot of us really are trying to help them.

Welcome to you too Shorty. I am a born and bred chevy guy. I grew up in Michigan and my dad worked at the Chevy truck plant in Flint until the day he died. I would NEVER own any other brand of truck.
