I'm considering a backup camera that replaces the rear view mirror. My truck is the SLT model and it has the compass and thermometer function. I think it may be auto-dimming as well but I'm honestly not sure. Will I lose any other, unexpected functionality if I replace it with a mirror w/backup camera feature?

will likely loose all those functions unless implemented in the new mirror and they are compatible with existing thermo sensor.

Thanks. I guess what meant was does it control anything else? There are times when it seems like my side mirrors dim at night but I could be wrong.

Then you have electrochromatics on the outside as well. They are controlled by the inside mirror so you will loose the ability for those to dim automatically as needed for headlight glare and such. You can also manually turn off the effect on the outside mirrors too.

Thanks. I might look at the clip-on type or external monitor then.
