Hi all! Greetings from Fort Lauderdale.

I joined the club yesterday and drove home a new 2017 Tahoe LT, Siren Red Tincoat, Cocoa/Dune, Rear bucket seats, Max Tow and MyLink Navi.

Wow, nice truck but, man, there are a lot of buttons and bells. Might need my nephew on this project.

Have you figured out everything with the head unit yet? I just got my Tahoe over the weekend and its got way more than I thought it would. Are you going to keep the OnStar service(if it came with the free 3 month trial)? Not really liking that you have to use the OnStar thing for the navigation. I'm used to just a basic Navigation that has additional features if you have the satellite radio hooked up but it doesn't require you to have the radio subscription.

Now that I am driving the truck more often I have made a lot of progress with the head unit.

Doubt I will keep Onstar.

I have an XM subscription from my previous car which is now added to the end of the XM trial period on the Tahoe. Doubt I will keep that either.

The Navi seems unnecessarily cumbersome to use particularly if you are used to a Garmin. I am not sure that it is stand alone. The Navi directions in the manual all have to do with Onstar.

It is disappointing that there is no Pandora App. Pandora can be played with limited functionality via Bluetooth but most Pandora features can be played via Android auto.

I tried running Android Auto Google maps using the Onstar hot spot but the message was that it was too unstable.

I have unlimited data so probably will use Android Auto for Navi and Pandora.

Nice truck though.

Ya as I said I don't like how much it relies on OnStar, and I'm hoping I can get some other type of Nav in the future because I don't like relying on my phone for that all the time.
I have had XM services before and actually enjoyed it, but their services aren't available over here on Hawaii so I have to wait till the military moves me back to the mainland.
I haven't really used any of the apps other than from my iPhone and really just the phone portion and the imap app. I like google maps more, or garmin.
I don't have unlimited data, but I'd consider it over having OnStar.
As bad as it sounds because I was on a detail for the military but had a computer to look up stuff yesterday I was already looking at full metal bumpers from Fab Four Bumpers.
