Ok guys, here is what I'm thinking of doing, please let me know your thoughts.

I have a '99 Tahoe 4dr 4x4 that lives on the highway. The goal is a tougher look that what it has now.

Lift:
Crank keys 1.5"
Steal 1.5" block (out back)

Wheels: (17x9) 5" BS

Tires: (285/70/17)
No Idea - any recommendation?

My idea was to see how I liked this first and if i wanted go bigger, a few yrs down the road invest in a 3" lift kit.

Also, if there are other recommendations for rims, I'm open to ideas.

yes, I approve.

As for tires...MTs look great and wear fast, an aggressive AT is a good choice.

Ok, so i think i'm settling on the Mickey Thompson Classics....

I LOVE the other rims, but I can't see them in person and every time MT's roll by, I love their look...with the cost of this whole setup, I'm running conservative and buying what I've seen. Also, they are raw (polished) so I'm having them professionally clear coated (baked) prior to mounting on the new tires.

For tires, I'm thinking ProComp AT 285/70/17. They seemed to grab positive remarks on this site.

Wheel Specs:

17x9
5"BS
0 offset

I spoke to the rep at Mickey and he recommended #379411 b/c of the bore size - 4.25

Is that the correct bore size for my OBS 4x4?

How much did the 3/4 ton brakes help? I will be doing brakes with the suspension lift and new wheels and tires.

ONLY switch to 3/4t calipers if you're going to hydroboost your setup. And if you do hydro your setup AND upgrade to 3/4t calipers, buy remanufactured AC Delco....do not buy the cheaper Cardones.

I can guarantee you will see more improvements with 1/2t calipers and 1/2t Heavy Duty Hawk pads then 3/4t calipers on your stock vacuum system.

The other option is an upgraded master cylinder on your stock vacuum system. Two guys on this forum did just that switch and were very unhappy with the results. There may be other opinions for upgrading just the master cyclinder, but I haven't seen any actual data to confirm...but these two gentlemen explained the increased backpressure on the pedal made it difficult to lock the tires up in a panic. Under normal driving is was great b/c of the tight feel, but when trying to smash the brakes, they stated the feeling was too tight.

Also, there is a writeup online (one of the magazines) that took a lifted Tahoe and reduced the stopping distance by 40ft (IIRC) by going hydro. IIRC his stopping distance was a bit over stock b/c of the lift/tires/rims and hydro made a HUGE distance for him.
