New to me 2001 denali xl

Sorry for the newb questions, but I can't seem to find the answers to them.

1. Do the daytime running lights only work when the car is not in park?
2. turning on pavement while going forward or reverse almost seems to bind the vehicle up. I know it is AWD, but it doesn't seem to be normal, it is excessive. Even reversing on gravel sharply binds, I have to give it more gas to overcome it. I was turning sharply in a parking garage going down the spiral changing levels, and it squealed the whole way down.
3. are the map lights supposed to come on with the interior lights?

If anyone can point me to some terms to search for on this forum I will do that. I am more of a reader, not an asker.

1. Yes, DRL's only come on when it's in drive.
2. Not an expert, but it sounds like there is something wrong. Mine doesn't "bind up" at all when turning sharply. Not sure where to tell you to start on that, but maybe someone else can chime in.
3. Yes, the map lights come on with the other lights.

(all of those answers are assuming things function in an '01 the same as they do in an '03)

I googled #2 and it might be the viscous coupler in the transfer case. I will have to see if that is the case. Sucks that it was gone before I bought it, but them the breaks.

My map lights work with the buttons, but not with the interior lights. Its damn dark in the front when you open the door.

1) You need to have the truck in gear out of park,the e-brake off, and the headlights can't be on for the DRL's to turn on!!

2) Don't know!!

3) Read through this thread, in order for the map light to turn on with the rest of the interior lights, then you will need to do what I did in my '02!! http://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8576&page=2
