My dad always bought fords, so I did the same. I bought my first Chevy in 2002, A 2002 Tahoe Z71, in my opinion way better than the Expedition at the time.. Had it for about 150K miles or so, was our Family daily driver. Then in 2010 my wife wanted a smaller car, so sold the Tahoe got her a car and me a Ford F150.. So this year I was in the market for another SUV, Being a ford guy by nature was gravitating to the new Expedition, After test driving a 2017, I was pleased but wanted to check out the Tahoe before making my decision. I test drove a used 2015 Tahoe LT 2wd with 37k miles.. Drove smoother that the brand new Expedition and plenty of pickup and go.. I fell in love with it.. So I bought it for 15k less than a brand new Expedition..
I know that due to the CAFE standards automotive manufacturers have to get creative in Fuel and emission conservation and maintain performance. In trucks and SUV's Ford does it with direct injection V6 turbos and GM seems to do it with Direct injection V8's and AFM. I have read all the problems with both. So far I have driven 1200 miles and no issues with oil consumption and has much more power than my 5.4 Ford Pickup that averaged 8.5 MPG..
