Hello, new to this forum but not these trucks. This is my 4th over the years and I just picked up this 01 with 90k miles in amazing condition, garaged well cared for. Question when I hit a bump like railroad tracks etc the rear hatch light blinks. Other then the obvious which I’ll start with has anyone had this with a easy solution. I’ll pull the trim off this weekend to look for lose connections or pinched wires at the edges.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum from Virginia. That’s a rare find. Check where the wires go from the body to the lift gate. They get chafed from old/missing grommets.

You might also have a loose hatch that is loose enough to jiggle the sensor connection, but not enough to make noise/exhibit other evidence. Just guessing, though. Never have experienced this one.

Beautiful rig! Welcome from MA!
Check the wires and connectors back there, as others have already suggested.

Looks like you are in FL, maybe?
Salt air, humidity and (based on the low mileage) sitting for month and lack of use... there could be corrosion in/on the contacts.
See if you can get to all contacts, scrub with some electric terminal cleaner spray and see about lubricating with a silicone spray to get all the moving parts to move freely.

Hello, thanks for the replys. I took a closer look this morning, the latches look almost brand new. Truck has zero rust but I did notice the upper glass door had a plastic clip that holds the trim in place and the tab was sticking up about 1/4 inch up. I popped that off and ground it down and put it back and it hasn’t happen since. Maybe it was holding that door up just enough? I drive it 190 miles round trip twice a week and had the drive home this morning without a single incident. Maybe I got lucky. I’m located on the treasure coast of Florida but bought it in Naples Fl. Was definitely garaged. All the rubber, seals, latches all look new. Original paint. Even smells like a newer truck in the interior. I’m hoping I got really lucky with this one.
Thanks
