Newbie with 99 Tahoe Questions!

My uncle is giving me a 99 Tahoe that needs some repairs. I have a few questions for all that have some time:

Believe the water pump to be bad. Pouring water in radiator and it leaks immediately from below the water pump...? Haven't gotten anything taken apart yet to get a closer look.

Need to install a new driver door hinge. The door is sagging pretty bad. How difficult is this to do in regards to removal and re-installation and getting everything lined back up correctly? Will most likely have to replace the latch in the door.

Need to replace various other interior parts, one piece of fender trim, rear barn door exterior handle is not attached to the door and is just hanging, although it works.

Any help for these items as far as ease of repair and recommendations for good quality replacement parts would be appreciated as well as which brands to use and where to buy.

It sound like your pumps rear cover is leaking if it happens that fast. just replace the whole thing. New:$60 remaned: $20 cheaper. If it is making really bad noise don't run it till the pump is replaced. it might seize and just destroy your belt.

On door just replace the pins and busings. Pain in the ass if you don't have the right shaped bucking bar or rivet head set. Should not have to re-align anything but it has probably has taking its toll on the door latch or striker so inspect those too. Parts about $20-40 per door at dealer.


For body parts get oem or junk yard oem where ever possible. Maybe lmctruck.com.

Barn door handle held on by bolts $2 each at a dealer. Pry the inside panel off and put new bolts in if they are not sitting inside the bottom of door already.

rockauto and amazon have good prices on factory parts.
