Nivomats Blown: Whats the move?

2005 LT Tahoe 2WD.
Daily driver/Mobile office
Has the fancy nivomats in the back. One of them is leaking slightly but no rear sag in the back. I quoted them at just a hair over $500 for a new pair. I'm looking for comfort and ride performance. I don't want an increase in height with a diff setup but what is everyone going with for optimal performance.

-Basically tell me what you have replaced them with and your impressions?? Up front I have KYB monomax (Grey ones) for the appropriate ride code.

- I am well aware new springs might be in order to match diff shocks.

If you dump the Nivomats for simple shocks, your springs will not be up for the task. The ones you have are softer to work with the Nivomats. If yours were mine, I'd put on new Nivomats.

I should have made this clear in the post. I understand the springs currently on the truck are matched to the nivomats. I don't mind replacing them if needed.

Well, you can run the HD rear springs with your favorite shock, Moog carries them as the 81069 or ACDelco 45H2164.

Your overall best bet is to replace the Nivomats. If you purchase other shocks AND replacement springs, you will find yourself in the vicinity of the cost of replacement Nivomats, and you won't have to purchase and install resistors to avoid codes in your DTC.

An option is to look at upull or LKQ yards for used Nivomats with lower miles. A long shot, but it's possible they have some.

You were 100% correct!! What a MoFO huge improvement!!! I mean this thing rides beautifully!! Hurt me in the wallet but I am pleased!!!
