No Refresh for 2024

Anyone else following the news on the potential strike? Just read the UAW made public their demands before going into negotiations, the biggest of which were the 46% increase in pay over 3 years and a reduction of the work week from 40 to 32 hours a week.

I’m not going to take sides on the issue - i can see both sides - but the end result is these vehicles are about to get A LOT more expensive. Maybe it’s time to just buy a 23 …

UAW...Such a highly skilled skilled and crafted workforce, what a joke. Sounds like the French with their demands...32 hour work weeks. Ohhh how history is so easily forgotten when just a few short years ago jobs were leaving for MX and the Big 3 in Detroit had to file for bankruptcy protection, govt, bailouts etc. The highly skilled workers of the UAW ran them into the ground with their ridiculous benefit demands, bonuses, and wages. Just seems like yester-year all over again.

Personally i think mismanagement leads to bankruptcy and bailout. Cant blame labor for that.

If you are making a profit you need to compensate those responsible adequately. Now if we are at a negative year over year adjust accordingly.

Sucks it takes a threat of a strike to get to negotiations.

just ordered my 23 from same small town northern midwest dealer that i have bought at least one silverado/tahoe/burban from for more from every year for over a dozen years now. based on what he's told me the variety of reasons here (except the conspiracy stuff) is all correct.

2024 being pushed back because current demand is so strong and parts aren't there for all the trim levels, with pending strike no way would they be ready or prepared in time to start accepting 24 orders and they just got things humming. as you all know GM makes a lot of money on these full size trucks, esp top end and i'm not sure where others are seeing them but i'm on the road a lot and was looking around online because i need to buy one yet this fall, we have nothing in the area unless you want high country 6.2's, even those aren't lasting long. haven't seen a dealer with more than 2 full size GM SUV's on the lot in chicagoland, milwaukee, madison etc anywhere. most trucks listed as 'in transit' are already sold, my small town dealer has a list of almost 10 of us waiting on his desk. there are now some LT silverados around (usually diesel) but very few higher end.

Good thing we're going to order a 1/2 ton pickup in early 2024 and push off the full size SUV purchase to 2026-2028. You would think that if GM, Ford, Stellantis, and Toyota keep increasing production of their full size SUVs for the next 3-5 years, they'll be able to have enough supply to meet demand by then. Personally, I think we'll be at that point in 12 months for the majority of the makes for full size SUVs.

Yup, they need to keep increasing production.

When I looked at Q1 2023 vs Q2 2023 for GM production it was around a 10-20% average increase. The Expedition increase was about 50% from Q1 2023 to Q2 2023. So Ford is gaining a larger foothold in that market because GM wasn't able to match the % increase in sales volume from Q1 to Q2.

Facts are incorrect in some research the banking crisis caused GM problems they couldn't find business loan which every business does. They were made to file bankruptcy nothing to do with labor.
