I know the steering wheel swap has been covered at length, but I have a question that I haven’t seen come up in any of the threads. Let’s say I put an 03 steering wheel in my 01 Suburban that does NOT have any steering wheel controls. Has any one repurposed the wheel buttons as aux switches?

I have an aftermarket radio and don’t care at all about controls. Switches for various mods I’m going to add I do care about. If this seems like a tremendous amount of work for little gain does anyone have a suggestion for aux switches and a mounting location? My steering wheel is immaculate. Especially since it is a 260k mi suburban I bought for 500$.

Lots of folks have added factory switches and repurposed them, usually up in the headliner or dash, wherever your model had its swtiches for TC, Fogs, etc.

Messing with the clockspring and figuring that all out would give me a headache. Would be cool though.

from what i read/heard, the 03's have a different spline pitch so it would not work in the 99-02's.
