Hello, I have an 05 tahoe with 5.3 and 140k Miles.
I was searching for next item to tinker with and came across some posts about replacing O2 sensors.
Do these really wear out or deteriorate in performance with mileage?
I am willing to do a replacement or upgrade if that is true.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

yes they wear out. changing them wont make it feel any more powerful or any thing unless they are tossing codes and not working right at all.

you could see a slight mpg increase if mpg have been suffering.

I get about 13mpg now. No codes. It runs super smooth.

For what it's worth, I have a 2005 with the 5.3L and almost 180,000 miles on it. I have never replaced my O2 sensors because they have never given me any problems. You are probably better off just waiting until you start seeing the check engine light, or having serious MPG deterioration.

I have a '05 Tahoe, with a 5.3L gas, and my engine light is on with a P2A04 code...bank 2 sensor 2. Think I will replace both sensors on that bank. No performance issues and getting about 15 mpg in town.
