Hello all. A brief introduction: I recently bought a 2004 Suburban, 5.3L A code came up that both knock sensors were bad, so I replaced both, along with one harness (the other seemed to be in good shape, I cracked the plastic plug getting one out). Anyways, put everything back together, it has an obvious vacuum leak, you can hear it. I finally find a breather on the intake that the plug mysteriously has a hole in it, and replace the cap. Idle goes back to normal, engine light clears itself, problem seems to be solved. I drive it around for a day, engine light comes back on...they tell me there are several codes this time(I apologize, I didn't get the code numbers, I will go back and get the numbers if anyone is interested), but they all have to do with the engine running lean. "Bank 1-Lean", "Bank 2-Lean", etc. Is this the engines way of relearning fuel/air ratios, timing curve, etc? Is this something common? Any ideas where to start? A buddy thinks there is probably an EVAP leak, or that the fuel pressure might be low...not gonna pretend I have any idea how he came up with that conclusion, lol. Since I have limited tools at my disposal, I was gonna take it to a mechanic tomorrow for at least a diagnostic. I would prefer to save money and do the work myself, assuming I can figure out whats wrong with it. If you need specific questions answered, I can...just don't know what more to add. Other than the CEL it seems to be running perfectly fine, smooth idle, no noises, etc.
This is not my daily transportation, so I don't NEED it in some certain time frame, but I am getting incredibly frustrated with this, and would greatly appriciate any help you can offer. If I have found one thing from Internet forums, it is that whatever the problem, SOMEONE had the exact same problem before. Lol.
