OEM Flip-down unit questions

I have a 2003 Tahoe with the stock flip-down screen and dvd player. I want to replace this with an aftermarket unit and hook it up to my double din but I noticed that the headliner is formed for this flip down...

Anybody here replace theirs without having to swap out the whole headliner?

Or is there any way to send my signal from the double din into the flip down unit without wires showing? My original thought was to plug the video rca output to the rca input on the flip down but will look to ghetto

Or what have you guys done

Check out the pictures in my album I did just that. The wires get hidden behind the headliner, and run down the pillars. Its not that hard to do.
