OEM Head Unit to OEM NAV 05 Denali

I've been considering installing an OEM nav unit in my yukon. I figured I would ask around before I make any moves. I would do an aftermarket nav but when you add up all the harnesses needed it's not worth it in my mind. Has anyone done this install, and is it possible?

Yes, it is possible and very easy. You should find a 2005-2006 touch screen navigation model. You can find them on ebay usually. If the seller has not unlocked the nav unit, you will have to get a dealer to unlock it for you or find another 3rd party that can do it. You will also need the antenna which is mounted behind the radio, under the dash board. Finally, you will need to splice one wire from the instrument cluster to get the vehicle speed to the nav unit for it to work properly. Other than that, it is plug & play.

is there a lot of disassembly required? So the antenna is already installed it just needs to be hooked up? Thanks for answering my initial question btw

The part that is the most work is installing the GPS antenna. It is not that hard though. The antenna is not there, you have to purchase it and install it. To install it, you just remove the wood dash bezel, passenger grab handle and vents, then several screws holding the top dash cover on. Then you remove the radio and you can install the antenna. I have done it, it really isn't that difficult. You must be careful not to break the sun sensor on the dash (I did, it is very fragile...$34 for a new one).
