Had a quick question. I’ve been getting OEM/ACDelco parts on Amazon. I was told supposedly to stay away from Amazon with that because there are knock off companies that advertise them as OEM but they really are not.?

My understanding is that the way Amazon works is… when you buy an item, it may have 10 different suppliers for the same item… all 10 suppliers send their same item to Amazon for distribution. Amazon then puts all the items from the 10 different suppliers into 1 bin (hypothetical speaking). Then they sell the item to you. So if 1 of them 10 suppliers sent in knock off equipment, it will now be mixed in the bin and now the possibility of you getting a knock off is there.

I hope that was easy to understand.

FWIW, I haven't bought OEM from Amazon, but have from eBay; mostly NOS parts.

On eBay, you have to be very careful; there are both factory and aftermarket sellers. Practice will make you better at differentiation. Factory packaging and factory part numbers are two of the clues I use.

This is why I don't buy from Amazon.
ebay's not much better, but over 99% feedback for over 5 years is usually enough to make me feel better about the purchase.

I always check an eBay seller's feedback. It doesn't help me if his/her feedback is from buying.
