Looking to upgrade wheels for my 2004 Z71 Tahoe. Was looking at tire/rim combination available OEM from the newer trucks 2007-2014 range. I want to stick with OEM for simplicity of finding replacement RIM if needed.

Just found this: http://www.wheel-size.com/size/chevrolet/tahoe/ Pretty cool site.

I was hoping to find some take offs from someone who still had good tire life remaining for not too much (due to tight budget).

I would love larger rims so that in future, i can have more options for lifting vehicle and adding bigger tires.

Has anyone run these on the 2000-2006 trucks and how do they handle differently? Advantages/disadvantages?

Thanks.

When i replaced the stock 16`s with 20`s the ride quality didn`t change a bit but the handling got better from the shorter sidewall on the 20`s.

The only bad thing is that you will likely lose a little MPG due to the larger diameter tire and from the 20`s being heavier than the 16`s. And your speedometer will be slightly off depending on what size tire you get. A tune can correct that.

I weighed the stock wheel/tire and it was around 75 pounds, The 20 was around 92 pounds.

Great info. I was curious about the difference in weight. Did you keep the stock tire size?

So the speedo adjustment is done through a computer? or can it be done at the same time a cluster is sent for repair?

I actually have 17s so I would imagine it would be a slightly less difference in weight. I was also looking at 18s.

When I got my tune blackbear said that mine wasn't able to fix the tire size because mine didn't work right with the traction control... Is there a way to change it at the cluster?

What? Never heard of that, just as above mentioned, put in new size and done.

Must be something else going on I am assuming.

Yeah he tried that on mine... But it acted funky with the traction control system and ended up putting the truck in limp mode... So he ended up not being able to correct it. Sad cause I was looking forward to it lol. According to my speedo it shows 65mph 3 different GPS apps on a couple different phones and a Garmin all show I'm doing 69-70... I know better, but I don't want the wife to forget and get pulled over. I wonder if there's another way. Maybe I'll just move my speedo needle up a couple mph to close the gap better lol
