I've always been proud that my 185K-mile 5.3 didn't have any leaks other than a very minor inner tie rod seal leak that didn't even drip. I put it on jack stands a few minutes ago in preparation for it's 5,000-mile service and saw the entire horizontal portion of the sway bar and back of the oil pan sump was wet with oil and there were two quarter-sized drips on the concrete.
I popped out the inspection cover from the bellhousing and it looked and felt dry in there so I don't think it's the rear main seal. I think it's the back of the oil pan gasket. I have the oil draining and I cleaned the area with brake parts cleaner. I guess I'll have a better idea tomorrow of where it's originating from.
Just had to rant/vent a little.
