Help, my 2014 SLT, with 50k miles has started leaking oil yesterday. I had the oil changed at valvoline about a month ago. No issues, Yesterday, while my truck was warming up in the drive way oil started leaking around the oil filter. I took it right back to the Valvoline Store, who checked and could not see leak at all, blamed it on them being sloppy when they changed last time, strange it took a month to see oiil drop. Guess i sort of bought that answer. They cleaned up the filter and plug and made sure it was tight. Then again this morning sitting in the drive way, while warming up, it started leaking again. once the engine warmed it stopped..
i will call the dealership tomorrow and make an appointment, to get it checked out but all can think about is a bad filter. Hope that is all it is.
Thank for any thought and advise.

well unless it's coming from somewhere else it would only be from the oil filter seal, no other possibilities. I would take pictures of it leaking and take it back to Valvoline and tell them to do it again or get a refund and go somewhere else one or the other. if the manager refuses just go up the ladder......

I am not sure on these nnbs, but I think my 2000 or my 03 Silverado had a oil filter adapter (just above the filter) and mine started to leak from the adapter seal and ran down the filter making it look like the filter was leaking but it wasn't, it might be wise to get up close with a flashlight and take a look just to be sure.

The engine oil cooler lines are nearby and they do leak after time and at the junction where they enter the oil pan. Regarding the oil filter, I would not mess around with anybody, yank it off, throw it away and put on another one pronto, yourself. My habit is to fill them up as much as possible before screwing them in.

Your experience is why, unless I'm dying, we do our own oil changes.

Could not have sad it any better..........stay out of those places, their unique in finding something wrong whether it be a tail light bulb/air filter, or better still stick an ice pick in a hose. Sorry, I just don't trust them. I want my oil in a bottle not a barrel. JMHO.

Good News!!! Last night I left my truck with my local GMC dealer, and ask them to check out my oil leak from a cold engine. You all are correct, the oil was leaking from the filter, the filter installed by Valvoline. The tech recommended replacing with a GM/Delco filter made specifically for my truck. Picked my truck up tonight with the piece of mind knowing that it is ok. Promised not to ever go back to Valvoline or any other quick lube changing stores again Thank you all for your good advice..
