I will try to include pick but I just. Opined I had a loose plug while looking for a leak on the driver side and noticed that the front most spark plug was loose. After I took it out the threads were covered in oil. The tip was clean but the threads had oil. I also noticed the valve cover is leaking oil all along the bottom of it I assume thats the gaskets. I had already planned on new oil pump and full cam upgrade with all the fixings and all new gaskets all the way around. I was hoping to make it thru the winter becadue I live in michigan and I hate working on my ride in the cold. Is that not possible now? How much time do I have? Tia

If the tip was clean and you are seeing oil seeping from around the valve covers, that is likely where the oil on the plug thread is coming from. I would do a quick valve cover gasket job and then you should be good. If you decide not to do anything at this time, then just put your plug back in, make sure it's tight and go on with life.

Thanks for the quick reply. I mos def have ocd when it comes to things like this and my thinking is if I'm going to get into it thrn I feel like I should do everything I want to do all at once. Is that not necessary? If I buy a fel pro gasket set for the entire motor I believe that will suffice and do the valve covers will that get me thru the winter?

If all you have is some seepage at your valve covers, as long as you can live with oil coating the side of your engine and possibly dripping onto your garage floor, then yes, it can wait.

If you decide to swap out the valve cover gaskets now, and then tackle the rest of the stuff when it is warmer again, you will need to make the decision at that time if you want to reuse the gaskets or get another set. I completely understand the concept of if I'm going to start tearing into something, I only want to do stuff once so yeah, I try and do everything I can as well, but sometimes life gets in the way and choices have to be made.
