I have an 07 LTZ with enough miles to get to the moon. Check engine light came on today with P0521 and sure enough my gauge is really high. Went home and changed the oil and still reads high. When my key is in auxiliary (engine off) the gauge reads like 30psi. With the engine off I would have thought the pressure was 0. Is that true?

If so maybe sending unit is bad. Is the sending unit replacement a DIY job?

Thanks

It is fairly easy to change out with a 27mm deepwell socket and a swivel and 5"-6" extension and ratchet but you will be working blind because it is tucked up between the intake manifold and firewall so you can't really see it.

Strange that with the key off it doesn't read 0 on your gauge.... it should.

Thanks for the quick response. How I love working blind. Called my mechanic and they said this would be a $220 job. Might just be worth it this time. I have to believe my pressure is good since it does go up 40 psi. 35psi when car is off to 75psi when car is running.

Getting a reading above 0 with key on engine off is a symptom of the sending unit failure. Definitely not worth $220 imo. Everyone makes it seem so much harder than it is. Literally will take you less than 30 minutes.
