My '04 Z71 tahoe has been having an issue with oil pressure. When the truck is cold and first start up I have 40 psi of pressure but as it warms it drops all the way to 0/5 psi. When I give it gas pressure does back to 40 psi and when it's stopped & idling it goes right back to 0/5psi tripping the oil pressure alarms. I've been asking around and haven't gotten anything definitive o what's happening. I did change the pressure switch and that wasn't the culprit. I've yet to have a pressure tester on there but I'm looking to see what your input could be on my issue.

I would definitely do a pressure test at idle and when throttle when warm and a pressure when cold at idle. Depending on miles on the engine you could have some clearance problems on the bearings or an oil pump going bad.

Just a curiosity thought, would a faulty gauge cluster cause low oil pressure alarms to go off or is it more of a mechanical issue?

As an after thought, I DO NOT have a check engine light on my dash when the low oil pressure alarms are going off. I do have a leak somewhere around the front right side of the engine but I do not have a definite location of it
