Oil pressure seems high

I have a 2003 yukon denali xl and about a week ago i noticed that my oil pressure is now running on 80psi where as it use to to run around 50psi. Has anyone else had this problem or know what may have cause this. ( i changed the oil filter but it made no difference

when you shut the truck off does it go all the way to 0psi?
if not then the gauge could be messed up..

I dont know what it is But I have a 2002 Yukon, that has high oil pressure..but the car shuts off when it gets high..I will be on the highway and its loses power

get an oil change and see what happens, if that doesnt work my next plan of action would be to drop the oil pan and check out the oil pump

The oil pump is mounted on the crank at the front of the engine with a pressure relief valve

The oil pressure does rturn to zero when truck is off. After posting i saw another thread of the same complaint and it stated that it may be the sending unit. I'm trying to locate that on the motor so i can replace it myself...any help would be gr8ly appreciated

Well today i fixed oil pressure problem. It ended up being the sending unit. Its located on the back of the motor block on the drivers side. If you put a mirror back there you can see it. You have to unplug harness and use a deep 1and1/16inch deep socket to screw it out. Bought sending unit from advance auto for $50. It took about a half hour to remove old 1 and put in new 1. Pressure is reading right now between 40psi and 50psi.
