I got a pump at Advanced Auto $323 dollars I have 1 more night to work so probably start on it Wedsneday morning, hope everyone had a great 4th!! :)

Just a heads up, but I think you could save over $100 on that pump with Rockauto (including shipping) and get a genuine GM OE or Delphi pump. There is a lot to be said for the convenience of being able to drive down to the parts counter and get the item you need, but when the difference is like 30%, I draw the line unless it is a total emergency.

I know but if it was the wrong pump or something it was going to knock my truck out of service for how ever long, I got a lot of parts from rockauto but on a mission critical situation I couldn't live with the worry.

Just for future reference, on these trucks and starting around 2004+ there is a normal feature that will continue to operate the starter even if the key is released, the technical conditions for this to happen I do not know but it will do it if the conditions are right, say like it is very cold out the starter will continue to engage for 1-2 seconds after the key is released. sometimes it will even hold the key forward in the ignition start position if you let go of the key then it release's it automatically. low fuel pressure could have made this happen as you reported initially.

I recently drove to Florida and half way there my 2007 5.3 Flex Tahoe was hard to start. The truck acted like the starter would not disengage when attempting to start. I thought of the lock cylinder so I tried with the remote, and it also had the same issue, like the starter would not disengage, but there is no grinding with this issue. It makes me feel like the truck doesn't realize it has started and continues to try. I have replaced the starter, purge canister valve, oem battery ground wire to engine and body. I also ran another ground from the firewall to the alternator and pulled the engine fuse box out and cleaned all the contacts and slightly rubbed dielectric grease on all the connections. I also put a bottle of HEET in the tank. I have no CEL on, it just takes about three tries to start and then it runs absolutely perfect, 172,000 miles.
Gonna do half tonight and button up in the morning

Well, she starts and runs perfect now!!
Thank you for all your help!!! Thank You Thank You, glad I did a lot of research, the first guy at Advanced Auto showed me a fuel pump that had a large vent tube where my finger is pointing, I said wth is that, none I've seen had that, he said that's for your AFM I'm like dude I don't think so, the one without that vent was $40 higher of course, but was the right one!
