I haven’t been able to connect my phone via Bluetooth to the OEM radio since it was swapped by the dealer when I purchased it used. When I test drove the car the backup cam was not working and the Chevy dealer agreed to fix it after I purchased it.

They determined it was the head unit and swapped it out with a brand new unit.

When I press the on star button the microphone does not seem to pick up my voice commands. Could there be something they did not connect when installing the head unit?

Any advise on troubleshooting this problem?

Thanks

What year is your vehicle?

Might pull the radio and make sure the cables are all plugged in on the back of the H/U.

There are various configurations of software and versions of software for the radio. They might need to try and reprogram the radio to your vehicle again.

I’ll take a look behind the radio first to make sure there isn’t something they missed. Would it be something obvious that is disconnected?

If you can call out to OnStar they can verify if your s/w is up to date. The s/w in the h/u has to interact with the s/w in b/t (that's in the OnStar module).

In the two years I had canceled the OnStar subscription on our 08 Denali that operated off the Verizon network, it went obsolete. Ironically, OnStar offered a comp for a 90 day renewal and were quite embarrassed the promo got offered to such and old vehicle. To my surprise OnStar has a s/w update to revive the 07+ OnStar modules that run on the obsolete Verizon network.

Once one of the escalated tech Reps took over, they beamed new s/w into the truck, integrated it into the h/u and provided 200 min free Verizon calling minutes. Up until I had asked for two escalations to managers, every Rep stated I'd have to go to the dealer for diagnosis. OnStar went to ATT in 2015.

Nothing happens when I press the OnStar button and the phone button on the rear view mirror. I don’t get the typical OnStar greeting and the radio continues to play without muting.

I haven’t had a chance to check behind the head unit to make sure everything was reconnected when they swapped the head unit.

Check for loose connectors behind the glove box as well. The right light on the mirror should be green and not red, what are you seeing?

How long ago did the dealer replace the head unit?

The Bluetooth is embedded in the Onstar module. If neither BT or OnStar work AFTER the dealer did the work. Take it back and tell them you just discovered this. This is a thing only the dealer can fix due to OnStar proprietary parts. Don't tell them you've done anything to it.

You're using the steering wheel button and voice command "pair phone" right?
Do you have back up camera in the head unit or mirror?
Does your back up camera work now?
