Would like a few peoples input if possible. I recently repaired my passenger lower dog leg. Welded in a square patch. The driver side when applying pressure sounded crunchy. Had a few rust blisters. No hole. Sanded down to bare metal. No hole was created. I took my dent glue puller kit and pulled on it a bit to get more of an air gap between the put leg skin and the inner structure. Should I bother cutting a hole and clean up the rust and re weld a patch. Or put some evercoat glass bonds over it and paint it and let it go under it rusts through in a few years. I do plan on spraying rust inhibitor on both sides regardless. Photos are of the passenger repair. I have it in primer.

How long will it last without rusting after you patch it?
Seems like cutting a hole, you can see if there's any rust on the inner structure, clean as much of it as you can.
But if there is no stopping it, then you can take a break :)

I'm considering doing this same repair but mine is too far gone. My other side is blistered but not bad. If I can afford to do a quick fix on that one and get a few more years, that might be all I need.

Update. Sanded the drivers side. Had very small pin holes I mean very small. Cut a hole and did same thing. It actually was worse inside compared to the passenger side. Before painting the inner structure I took a large hammer and pushed the inner structure in so there was more of a gap between the outer skin and the inner structure.

I bought duplicolor cans of the paint code. I already tested it before starting repairs and it's darker but I'm not to concerned. Then I have 2K clear with upol#9 blender.

Hey how goes?
Nice job on the repair.
One thing I found was never tape a line for primer, youll see it when you paint it no matter how much you sand it.
What you can do is fold tape, google soft edge masking, its a little better than straight tape.
Whats the plan for base and clear?
Good man! Thanks for sharing your experience with this. :)
