Trying to finish up changing my outside mirrors from DL8's to DL3's. I have already changed the mirrors and all worked well as far as function (up, down, in and out). Of course I was unable to fold the mirrors due to that part of the switch not being in the original vehicle package and the puddle lamps also would not light. Today I bought the proper switch for the door that also has the fold switch (part# 20877336). Installed the switch and nothing is working except for the drivers side window.....nothing. My question is do I need the dealership to flash the ECM and program it for the new switch and the mirror change? If anyone could help on this quickly I would really appreciate it since I have an appointment at the dealership in the morning to fix a engine light warning for an emission system problem. Any takers???

You will need the dealership to flash the new parts so your truck recognizes the feature.

Update

I wish I could give a "Readers Digest" version of this but sadly I can't. Spent over 4 hours waiting. Service Manager came over and had told me that it can't be done (VIN wrong, switch doesen't go with the vehicle, mirrors don't go with vehicle, yada, yada, yada) So I posted the plea for help. Mechanic kept at it....was watching and saw the mirrors fold...something at least. He kept at it and finally came walking my way with computer in hand. I was ready for the bad news when he smiled and said, Got It!

Seems that in the program the new switch is pre-programmed (duh) he had to first accept that I had heated seats and steering wheel to get to the mirrors. Once he did that he backed out turning off the items that wern't there and the mirrors then worked folded, puddle lamped, everything.

They charged me for 2 hours labor for him to experiment and learn how to do something. I'll be waiting for that satisfaction survey.

BOOMER SOONER!
