Over-the-license-plate chrome trim piece -- are they all the same??

Hey all,

Looking to get one of those over-the-license-plate chrome trim pieces for my '09. They seem to range wildly in price, despite everyone using the same, stock picture.

Are they all the same, regardless of who's selling them? I'm inclined to just go with the cheapest price if they're all the same. If they're NOT all the same, then I'd probably go with Putco, since I know the name, and have their lower mirror pieces. But, they also appear to be the most expensive.

Can anyone enlighten me? (And do you have a link to the best/cheapest where you got yours?)

Oops -- Yeah, on the tailgate. Forgot that not everyone only has one license plate [and that it's on the rear of the truck].

You can get them cheap on ebay. What I've found is the price difference is usually due to the material the frame is made of. I've seen stainless ones that are nice but real pricey. The cheapo $7 ones at your local auto parts place will probably be chrome plated plastic. I usually buy the plastic ones for the rear plate. If you have a front plate like we do in Hawaii I'd get a metal frame for the front since the front plate will get slammed by bugs and road grime.

Hmmm.. Don't know why my reply yesterday didn't post....

...But I'm not looking for a license plate surround. I'm looking for the piece that goes ABOVE the license plate, that houses the back up lights and back up camera, that has a bow tie mounted to it. I'm talking about a plastic, chromed piece that fits over the factory painted piece, one that often can be gotten with a matching chrome piece that goes over the tailgate handle under the plate.

I went to ebay and before you spend $7 remember you get what you pay for. I kno you dont want to be the trucc with the chrome piece on and flies off on the highway. lol that would cracc me up I used the company UPGRADEYOURAUTO on ebay, their products sticc like crazy when I did my lower liftgate handle it fits like it really came on the trucc factory and the hatch piece leaves so lil space you think it was custom tailored.. I mean I'm not tryn to blow smoke but I'm more then happy and it sticcs better then this B/S company that sold me my side view mirror piece driver side give me crazy problems I might just take them both off. but here's the pic I think seperateIi paid $65 for the lower $55 for the Hatch but they sell both as a kit I just wanted to kno if it would sticc well b4 gettin both and it's a good investment to me. I'll let you kno once my trucc is on the street how durable they are..

DMV suspended my registration becuz i didnt turn my plates in when i lost my insurance. i was caught in a catch 22 i kept the plates till i found i decent place to keep my trucc. garage fees here are damn near as much as my car note so when i found one they said i had to wait til july 28th so ever since then i been buying pieces and modding.. so 6 days left and i'll be posting some WAY better pictures and i have to show ya'll my system install. the one mod im anxious to do feel like a lil kid who can't sleep on christmas eve!!

Kmeloney your trucc is blk right? if so that mod is goin to be real hot too especially if you blk your rear bowtie.. i'll find another link for there pieces and post one up for you.
