Hey all,

I'm new to the forum, so sorry if this is in the wrong place. We have an '04 Yukon Denali with an overhead DVD player in it, but I'm not sure it's the factory one. It's made by NSEA, and is black in color. To get the audio to work for it, I have to tune my radio into a certain channel. The problem is the DVD player is not working hardly at all, and it is also scratching the hell out of the DVD's as well. It will turn on, and let you put a disc in it, but most of the time it won't read it at all, or it will read it but it's really choppy (similar to a music video buffering on the internet). We tried a cleaner disc in it, and that didn't help at all either. I was thinking of replacing it, but when I was looking online at pictures of the factory units, they look like they came in a lot bigger console that was tan in color, and made by Panasonic. Do any of you have any pictures of your overhead DVD units that I could see pictures of? I don't mind changing it over to a new one, but just not sure how much work it would entail, I would prefer to find the factory one to make it more plug and play. Thanks!

Ok thanks man. Mine doesn't look like that, so I'm going to assume it isn't factory. Was the DVD player not standard in a Denali? I guess I thought they were. How does that one you have pictured feed into your audio system? Do you have to turn the radio to a certain frequency, or is it a different input? Thanks again for the response.

I'm still running all stock so I have the RSE function built into the head unit

I think it was a sunroof/no sunroof thing...

The factory one goes into the radio via an input "RSE". So if you change inputs from the steering wheel, it will change from FM, AM, XM, RSE, (or whatever)

This is the factory DVD player. Made by Panasonic.
I have this same unit in my 2006 Denali XL as well. Also DVD units were not stock in all the Denalis. I don't know how mine feeds into the audio system. I just have the one headset that is linked to the DVD player and that's how you hear sound. But then again I've never used it and haven't played with it to see how it feeds in.

Ok, awesome, thanks for the replies. Mine don't look like that second one either, and mine Denali does have a sunroof. It also doesn't have an input for it into the factory stereo, so I'm going to assume it was an add on. I guess I will just have to keep messing with it or figure out how to get it down and replace it. I appreciate all the help.
