Okay, so I was getting sick of looking at my scratched up and dingy paint on my Yuk. I bought it 4 weeks ago and it has been fricken cold up here so I havent been able to do anything about it, until last saturday. I was able to use my buddies heated garage and went to work. This is what I started out with...
And here are the products I used.
So as you can see the hood was from a junk yard and felt like it had hair on it. I started with a clay bar and here is a pic of the start of that.
That was able to knock down most of the junk on the hood. I then took some 1500 sand paper and color sanded some of the scratches out of it. I then used the diamond cut 2.0 maguires and this is a pic of half of the hood done.
So I claybared the entire truck and wet sanded when necessary. Then I used the meguiars diamond cut 2.0 with a wool pad on the entire truck to remove the sanding marks and get out all of the light imperfections.
I took some time and sanded down the rust on both sides and filled where necessary (until I have time to weld in some cab corners this will have to do).
I then used the Meguiars Dual action cleaner/polish with a black foam pad on the whole truck to get rid of my swirls form the compound.
Then I used the Meguiars Swirl Free Polish to give me a deep shine with a yellow foam pad.
To finish it off and lock in that shine I used the Meguiars Deep Crystal Carnuba wax applied with an orbital buffer and wiped it off with a microfiber towel.
Final outcome.
And my helper for the day.
