Hi all. I'm looking to strip my 99 Yukon to the bone and paint it with a new color. That means that in addition to removing bumpers, doors, all exterior trim, windows, etc., I also plan to gut the interior. That means everything - carpet, dash, seats, trim, all of it. I'm also capable of sanding everything down to the primer with a combination of an electric hand sander and orbital air sander.
Since it's unlikely that I could find anyone willing to rent me their paint booth for a day, I'd like to bring my stripped truck to a shop, have them finish sanding it down to the metal, fill some tiny dings, remove the front and side windows, and prime it 3 times, base 3 times and clear 3 times, with the inside being subject to the discretion of the painter (once over the existing paint is probably fine on the inside). I'll supply the paint to control quality and will want to observe the entire process. And of course I'll lend a hand whenever it's warranted.
Does anyone know of a decent shop in South FL (Miami-Dade or Broward/Boca) who will work in this manner at a decent price? The object is to do as much of the prep work as I possibly can in order to save money, and turn it over to the professionals to spray it in a booth. To have someone else do all of it would be a ton of money; hoping to get it down closer to a grand in labor. Thanks.
