What do you guys things? I've never done this before so I'm looking for some dos and donts.

The wheels I want to paint are not in perfect condition.

They are from 02-06 escalade I think. They are the 7 spokes ones and not polished.

My main question is .....

What should I do to prep the wheel surface ??

I'm thinking I need to get it as clean as possible. I have bought some wax and grease remover.

Get the wheels and paint warm and spray away??

Any other additional steps I could take?

you should return that and go get yerself 4 cans of black plasti dip and maybe a can or two of plasti dip glossifier and paint yer rims with that it will look just as good as that dupli color kit and plasti dip is easier to use and very forgiving

Heads up on plastidip, It never comes out glossy enough. It sprays on well, adhears well. but unless you clear coat it with paint which defeats the ability to remove it. I would say either take them somewhere, or just start spraying yourself!

I've painted 3 sets of wheels black so far and here's what I've found out.
1.) Plastidip never is glossy enough and ends up looking like crap within a few months
2.) the $1 cans of paint from Wal-Mart are decent for a budget job but chip easy.
3.) DupliColor wheel paint works the best.

The last set I painted on my TBSS was with DupliColor black wheel paint. It was around $5 a can but well worth it. I took the wheels off, sanded them with 400 grit, primed them using the cheap $1 Wal-Mart cans of black (4 coats), and then painted them with DupliColor black wheel paint (4 more coats) and I let them dry for 3 days. They still look new and they were painted almost a year ago. Here's a pic. I can get you a better one if you want, just let me know.
