"Service Park Assist" warning on. Park assist stopped working.

What are the usual trouble areas with this?

It's under warranty, just a pain in the rear dealing with my local dealership, they are always so busy and say "park it out back, we'll get to it when we can!"

My guess would be a sensor. Each one of those circles on the back bumper holds a sensor behind it. If just one fails I would think it would take down the hole system as it will not function correctly.

That would be my thought on the subject. Maybe someone else can offer up something else. Either way, I don't think you are looking at a HUGE problem. Plus your under warranty if needed.

Anything is a HUGE problem with my local dealership. I have two outstanding seat belt recalls on two new Impalas and can't get them done.

This was my last discussion with them, pretty much word for word.....

me: I need to bring a car in for a seat belt recall.
service: OK. When would you like to bring it in?
me: Any day is fine with me.
service: How's Tuesday?
me: That's good, what time?
service: Just drop off it any time.
me: How long will it take?
service: We'll call you when it's ready.
me: How late are you open for me to pick the car up?
service: We may not get to it the same day.
me: WHAT???
service: We will get to it as soon as we can. We're backed up 2 to 3 days already.
me: No Thanks! Bye.

The seat belt recalls remain undone. :emotions122:

If they don't have the staff to service the 250 to 300 vehicles they are selling each month, GM shouldn't let them sell so many.

Wow! I didn't know it was that bad. At my local dealership you make an appointment for a specific time, and they have it in by that time. They are also really good about estimating when it will be done, and telling you if they will have to keep it longer then expected. I suppose then it would be a huge problem for you to deal with them. :Handshake:

It is really sad that some people can have such great experiences with their dealerships and others - well not so much. How about some quality control from GM?

Sherrif,

I apologize for not seeing this thread sooner.

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. Is there any other local Chevrolet dealership you can visit to get this issue as well as your recalls fixed?

ChevyFreak,

GM only knows about 'bad' dealerships when customers file formal complaints. That way we know what is going on.

Thank you,

Elizabeth, Chevrolet Customer Service

There was a day and time when if you didn't buy a car at a dealership, they didn't want to service it. I thought those days were over. One of my Impalas came from a dealership 30 miles from me, and the other came from a dealership 40 miles from me. I am sure both of these dealers will do the seat belt recalls while I wait. They will toss in doughnuts and beverage too. I'll get the seat belt recalls done sooner or later.

Since I am under warranty on the Tahoe, I have decided to wait a bit and see if anything else breaks. Kill 2 birds with one stone maybe. I have the Suburban fever now, will probably end up buying one when a large chunk of pending money lands in my bank. (Daughter will take Tahoe, she has dibs on it already.) I'll just make them let me test drive a Suburban while they are servicing my Tahoe. If they don't..... I'll drive my new Suburban in and show it to them later with the name tag of a dealership I bought the above Impalas at.
:)

Once every couple of weeks or so when I crank mine up the DIC says "Park Assist OFF" and I have to hit the checkmark to make it go away, and while I'm driving the light is lit on the button on the dash for the sensors, but if I cut it off and crank it back up everything is fine and the sensors work great.

My daughter said "Service Park Assist" came up on the dashboard one day.

It hasn't worked since no matter what I do.

Gonna have to deal with the dealership... or you run the risk of backing into something :)

Oh the days when we didn't have park assist, back up cameras, or side blind zone alert. :) People actually had to turn around and look behind them in order to see. :hands:
