And I noticed after sitting a while and releasing the brake it still will not move in either forward or reverse. It will finally go after giving a lot of gas with a loud thud. Kinda like the brake never released properly. Yesterrday something that I've never felt before happened when reversing out of the driveway. I was backing up when the Tahoe came to a hard stop like the brake engaged again. I hope it's the brake me not the transmission.

check the parking brake cable path for a jammed line. should be easy to inspect. and the the release mechanism in the cab. the in cab assembly is not a serviceable part except for switch but a new one is about $60 at at the dealer.
