Hi all.

I'm going to knock out several projects on the front of the truck at once - headlights, push bar, front hitch, grille inserts etc so I'm planning everything.

For headlights, after much debating on HIDs, I finally said heck with it and decided not to go that route - got this Anzo set coming.

I never noticed before, but whoever had my otherwise pristine Tahoe before me just put bulbs in the front all willy nilly. The front driving/turn signals have two whites on one side, one white and one amber on the other. The corner signals have a white and an amber each under the orange housings.

OK - I know I need amber bulbs in the corners since I'm replacing the orange lenses with clear, but what about the front - is that just personal preference? I see all white, all amber, and one of each.

All else being equal, I'd like to put in some bright white replacements - every little lumen helps.

Is there any science or legality to picking out front bulbs?

Thanks for looking.

Legally, you have to have Amber reflectrors up front and red reflectors in the rear. Up to your local PD if you will get messed with. It comes down to personal preference on what color lights you want

I got the box and it had both in it for the corner lights - kind of a take your pick thing.

I'm really curious about the front parking lights with the clear lenses - what bulbs are "supposed" to go in there. All else being equal, I'll put whites in the front and the clear lenses on the corners with orange bulbs.

I was in court once and there was this girl who'd gotten popped for having a clear license plate cover but with the outline of a Chevy bowtie in it. She'd taken it off and told the judge something like "Well I bought it - and no were did it say when I bought it that I couldn't use it". The judge said something along the lines of "Well as long as you took it off, case dismissed".

If you feel a missed day of work and sitting in the smelly disgusting court room with a bunch of criminals is a fun time, then go for it and hope for the best.

While you have those headlight assembly's off vehicle, do a projector retrofit into them.

Wow - I guess it's different in different places, but we have a bunch of different kinds of courts here - one is called Recorder's court - basically just traffic court. Not a lot of criminals. Just traffic and weed baggies mostly - saw a guy once who shoplifted a pack of Ex-Lax. What an embarrassing thing to get caught stealing. I'm not sure what the dollar limit cutoff is to keep that in recorder's court, but it must not be very high.

What I'm saying is - I'll take my chances if that's the worst case. I'm pretty much past the age of cops $#*&ing with me recreationally. Oh and I'm white - every little bit helps.

I looked at the retrofit option and decided against it. I'm going to go with HIRs. I'll have other lights if I need them.

Plan and simple right here. If it is used as a turn signal it should be Amber whether that comes from a clear lens with Amber bulbs or Amber lens with clear bulbs

SunlitComet's statement is the best option as it gives the MOST amber output. However, clear lenses with amber bulbs or amber lenses with clear bulbs will also be legal.

I personally have always run amber lights (front and corner) regardless of the lens color option. I've recently installed LED parking/corner lights up front (to match the rear LEDs).
