I went to Pep boys the other day looking for a 180 thermostat for my 00 Escalade but they could not match me up. The computer was vehicle specific and would not allow cross referencing, the guy wasn't too bright either. Helpfull just not too smart...... I even went to Stant's site but they only list a 195......Tried ebay but there showing 1 item for a brand I never heard of nevermind its 20+ bucks w/shipping.

Anyway what is the part number for thermostat and gasket?

I really appreciate your help!

Goto Autozone, there aren't too many versions of a thermostat for a small block Chevy.

Ask for one for an LT1 car= 97 Camaro Z28

Same size as the Vortecs but the LT1 came with 180* from the factory, I've been running one for years before anyone says it won't work.

180* LT1 thermostat on the left, Stock 195* for a Vortec on the right. Only differences are the size of the hole where the thermostat opens up is bigger for the LT1 and the spring is a bit larger.
