I've been trying to gather more information on what Pedders offers.

https://secure.merlinsoftware.com.a...ode=PL&Level1=POLICE+RESPONDER&Level2=GMT+900

From what I've heard these kits are the real deal. They improve handling and are more than your typical 2 - 3" drops. I believe they offer either 30mm drop, stock height, or 30mm increase in height.

Although I have not come across information pertaining to this, but I'm going to go on the assumption that these kits don't exactly replace the Autoride suspension on both the LTZ and the Escalade?

I've also been doing some searching and reading through these forums and I haven't come across a thread that is a compilation of all the tire/wheel combos based on drop/height increase.

Does anyone know the tire/wheel combination one could fit based on those 3 different heights (30mm lower, stock, 30mm higher)?

I'm interested in:

1. 18" wheels (for offroading and winter purposes)

OEM 265/65/18

30mm lower: ?
stock height: ?
30mm higher: ?

2. 20" wheels (what will most likely come stock)

OEM 275/55/20

30mm lower: ?
stock height: ?
30mm higher: ?

3. 22" wheels (the maximum diameter I would personally get)

30mm lower: ?
stock height: ?
30mm higher: ?

Essentially I am asking what is the maximum diameter and width of the tire that will not rub based on lift or drop without modification such as trimming, etc.

I had the sport pack on my 07 and liked it for about 6 months. The front shock/struts went bad after only 12,000 miles. The ride went to hell real fast after that. They did step up to the plate and send me replacement parts free of charge but I decided to remove the kit and sell it.

I'm trying get a better understanding of your situation:

1. Is the Sport Pack identical to the Police Responders kit? Is the drop of a Sport Pack the same as the 30mm drop for the Police Responders kit?
2. Do you believe that the front shocks/struts going bad is an isolated case? Has anyone else had the same problem with these front shocks/struts? I would imagine that if the drop/lift of the kit is not extreme it would be expected that a suspension kit designed for police duty would last a decent amount of time.
3. How does the Bilstein HD ride compared to the Pedder's shock/strut?

The sport pack II or whatever they call it is the same as the police responder kit - at least it has all the same part #s. They are about a 2-1/2, 3-1/2 drop from stock. I've had it on for a year and am quite happy with it. I didn't want to mess with spindles since I have the XFE package that is already 1" lower than stock and I figured I would have to change the front springs anyway. It's a pretty good handling package, but it gets even better if you put the Eibach rear swaybar on too. Of course that means that the rear swaybar bushings that come with the Pedders kit are wasted!

If you were do replace the shocks/struts later down the road would you go with Pedders or Bilstein. I'm thinking about just keeping the stock height so that way I have more options down the road.

I thought the Police Pursuit kit was only 30mm lower than stock not 2.5/3.5 lower.

You're right. I did a little research and determined that the Police Responder Kit and the Sport Pack are essentially the same exact drop.

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Bilstein HD shocks/struts on a lowered truck. Do they last longer than those included with the Pedders kit?

Polo08816-

I like the way the Bistein HD shocks ride but for some reason when I put the stock stuff back on ( removed the Pedders kit ) the front of the Tahoe sat higher than stock. Not sure why this is but I like it. At first it was higher than the rear so I aired up the rear bags and everything leveled out. Driving the Tahoe with the Pedders kit in an Ohio winter was not fun. It looked great and may have rode great if I could keep a good shock up front. I do not care for the rake of the stock suspension so the HD shocks took care of that. I have 30,000 on the HD's and they still ride like the day I installed them.

I suppose I'm leaning towards:

-Pedders Utility HD coils (stock height)
-Bilstein HD shocks
-Hotchkis sway bar kit

The OEM tire size for 20" wheels is 275/55-20. Does anyone know what dimensions would still fit based on stock ride height for the OEM 20" wheels?

275/60-20 seems to be a decently popular size.
