pegged oil pressure gauge, jumpy after replacement?

had a pegged oil guage sensor so i changed it out. the start up after and driving around was back to normal. start up after sitting 6 or so hours it was pegged again. start up late in the afternoon was normal. its jumpy. any ideas?

the old one was. this one is sometimes. its jumping again. was acting normal when i parked earlier. yesterday it was pegged.

yea the one i took out and the one i replaced it with were ac delcos. they looked more or less the same

I wish I had a good answer for you. I'm not saying it's not the stepper, either... But intermittent and pegged, then bouncing, then fine.... Sounds like a short to me. I think all you can do is trace the wires... Are you sure the plug is seated well? Did you keep /reuse that little gray insert piece?
